I know usually we all talk about individual cases, and often cite links.. But we don't really talk much about books here in the True Crime section. So I thought it would be interesting to start a thread about it. I don't usually have much True crime book action going on, I'm afraid my crime reading tends to more fictional tastes or "based off of" sorts of books... But I'm always up for a good read, and appreciate it when folks share reviews on books.
I just recently read a Lizzie Borden book by Arnold Brown that I picked up at a local library book sale. It was pretty interesting. It presents the case in historical context, utilizing newspaper articles and court snippets. It also presents the case as to how Lizzie wasn't the killer, and why the trial happened the way it did.
It's an engaging read. The author definitely leads you on several details about the case that seem to raise some question marks about how the case and trial were handled in general. He also follows up after the trial with some accounts that are rather interesting and could be rather telling. But I'll leave that part for folks that might want to read on.
Something I appreciated was an accounting of transcript action at the end of the book. Rather nice ending worth reading in and of itself.
So what all has been or is on folks reading lists?
