Police on Long Island are investigating human remains discovered on Wednesday in a house whose owner went missing almost 60 years ago, officials said.
The remains were found when the current homeowner -- Michael Carroll, 57 -- was excavating his basement with his two sons in his Lake Grove home on eastern Long Island, according to Suffolk County Police. The two sons discovered what appeared to be human remains. The family called 911.
Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives responded to the call and are investigating.
So the current owner inherits the home from mom. Dad went missing in 1961 the current owner is 57 so he was just an infant at the time. He grew up in the home with two siblings, I'm guessing they were all too young to have murdered a grown man and buried him under a concrete floor. The kids all assumed that Dad had abandoned them but the family joke was "Dad's buried in the basement" Maybe one of the older kids saw it happen or helped Mom, of maybe Mom let the secret slip and then pretended she was just joking.
