One of Britain's most notorious serial killers has set a new world record for time spent in a solitary confinement.

A man labelled as one of Britain's most dangerous criminals, first committed murder came in 1974 with the killing of 30-year-old John Farrell in London.

The killer surrendered himself to the police, saying that he needed psychiatric care instead of going to prison.

Come the trial, this infamous killer was deemed unfit to stand, so was sent to Broadmoor Hospital instead.

This man in question is Robert Maudsley, who is Britain's longest serving prisoner after being locked up for a staggering 49 years.
